Our First Open Studios

  • Open Studios at Bow Arts Rum Factory in Wapping, tomorrow 2-8pm.

If you’re in London tomorrow, it would be great to see you at our Open Studios event. Once News International’s offices, the Rum Factory (where I’m based) is since last year home to 100 artists.

Recently I’ve been making these sculptures out of glass. This one is of 29 Harley Street. It happens to be where over 2,000 companies are registered.

(work in progress)

You’ll be able to catch me working on the latest one, of 147 St John St (31,000 companies). AMA! (work in progress)

Here are some I made earlier. I learned to make glass terrariums for a series of installations at Castle Drogo in Dartmoor last year. The exhibition is still on for the rest of the year in case you’re passing.

You’ll also be able to get a preview of an interactive game I’ve been working on. Avian Avenue is a game about terraced houses, their furnishings, and the lives lived within them. The first level is based in 1980s Stoke-on-Trent. It’s in beta at the moment but already looks beautiful.

What’s more, there’ll be around 100 other artists’ work to look at. Wapping is a part of London that everyone has heard of but nobody ever visits. And Bow Arts have kindly brought in a vanload of free beer too. How many more reasons do you need? It’ll be nice to see you there.

Saturday 14 May, 2-8pm.
Rum Factory, Pennington Street, London E1W 2BD.
Here’s a map. You’re welcome!
